History:
Kontinitro AG was founded in 1936 in Vaduz, Principality of Liechtenstein, by Karl Schmid, the brother of Arnold Schmid, the inventor of the process for the continuous production of nitroglycerine, who died in 1930. This process was further improved by the counter current washing process for acid nitroglycerine developed by Karl Schmid. After the death of Karl Schmid in 1953, control of the company passed to Dipl– Ing. Walter Reipold who had been with the firm since 1936. Under his management, the process has been extensively automated and NG plants have been set up in all parts of the world. In recent years, the field of activities has been extended to include the technology of “Bulk Emulsion Mixing and Pumping Truck, Fully Computer Controlled” and the manufacturing of opto-electronic measuring instruments with related accessories..
